This was the third occasion in World Cup history when a Pakistanicaptain scored a half-century against India.

Previously, Aamer Sohail had scored 55 runs against India in the 1996 WorldCup quarter-final, and Misbah-ul-Haq had played an innings of 76 runsagainst India in the 2015 World Cup.
