Afghanistan government rejects Russian claims of CIA in Afghanistan

Zabiullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for Afghanistan’s interim government,refuted Russia’s claim about the establishment of US and UK intelligencebases in Afghanistan. He emphasized that Afghanistan should not be abattleground for the rivalries of other nations, urging them to keep theircompetitions outside Afghan borders.

He also made it clear that Afghanistan wouldn’t permit its soil to be usedagainst other countries.Mujahid’s statement was in response to AlexanderBortnikov, the Director of the Russian Federal Security Service, whoalleged that US and British intelligence services were contributing toinstability in Afghanistan near the southern borders of the Commonwealth ofIndependent States.

Bortnikov suggested that their activities aimed to colonize the CIS spaceand create divisions among member states.

Toreq Farhadi, a political analyst, suggested that Russia’s statements werepart of a propaganda war against the US, emphasizing that Afghanistan is anindependent country with the freedom to engage with any nation it chooses.

Russia has previously accused the US of destabilizing Afghanistan and theregion.
