Pakistan PM Khan seeks Iran s support over Occupied Kashmir conflict

ISLMABAD – Pakistan PM Imran Khan called on Supreme Leader Ayatollah SeyyedAli Khamenei in Tehran and thanked him for his crucial support over theOccupied Kashmir conflict.

Khan conveyed that people of Pakistan deeply value the personal commitmentof the Supreme Leader to the cause of Kashmir. The Prime Ministerreaffirmed his resolve to comprehensively upgrade Pakistan- Iran relations.He also apprised the Supreme Leader of his initiative for regional peaceand security

Prime Minister Imran Khan has underlined that the current situation in theGulf requires avoidance of military conflict and constructive engagement ofall parties of the region.

Talking to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and other Iranian leadership inTehran today, he conveyed Pakistan’s readiness to extend full facilitationof efforts for de-escalation of tensions and resolution of differences anddisputes through political and diplomatic means.

Imran Khan visited Tehran today as part of his initiative to promote peaceand security in the Gulf.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation includingForeign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, SAPM Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari andsenior officials.

During his meeting with President Hassan Rouhani, the Prime Ministerreiterated his commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations indiverse areas, with a particular focus on enhanced trade and economiccooperation. He said that close cooperative ties with Iran have always beena priority for Pakistan.

The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude over Iran’s support on theKashmir issue as the lockdown of over eight million people in IndianOccupied Jammu and Kashmir continues for 68 days. He apprised PresidentRouhani of the dire human rights and humanitarian situation created sinceIndia’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August and the serious riskposed to peace and security in the region.

The Prime Minister’s wide-ranging talks with the Iranian leadership wereheld in an atmosphere of cordiality and understanding, with the Iranianside appreciating Pakistan’s sincere efforts for the preservation ofpeace and security in the region.

The overall exchange of views was constructive and encouraging. Both sidesagreed to stay engaged and consult closely to take the process forward.
