ISLAMABAD – The 17th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation OrganizationCouncil of Heads of Government concluded in the Tajik capital Dushanbe witha pledge to protect multilateralism and free trade.
In the joint statement, the member countries agreed to continue the work ofconsolidating the multilateral trade system and fight against unilateralismand trade protectionism in any form. The statement also called for greatertrade facilitation and investment.
On the occasion, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang called on SCO countries toconduct feasibility studies for the establishment of an SCO free tradearea, and the development of institutional arrangements for closer regionaleconomic cooperation.
