The Supreme Court has rejected PTI’s Constitutional Petition, which aimedto invalidate the Council of Common Interests’ decision and ensure timelyelections. The apex court’s Registrar Office issued a letter regarding thismatter on Thursday.
The Supreme Court deemed the petition “non-maintainable” because thepetitioners didn’t specify the questions of public importance related tothe enforcement of Fundamental Rights guaranteed under the Constitution.Additionally, they didn’t explain how their case directly falls under thejurisdiction of the Supreme Court as per Article 184 (3) of theConstitution.
The Registrar’s office pointed out that the petitioners didn’t exploreother appropriate legal avenues available for seeking the same relief anddidn’t provide a valid justification for not doing so. Furthermore, itnoted that the petition contained multiple requests within a singleConstitutional Petition.
