PPP Stalwart Latif Khosa lands in hot waters

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has taken a significant step by serving ashow cause notice to one of its own, Sardar Latif Khosa, a distinguishedCentral Executive Committee (CEC) member and a renowned senior lawyer. Thismove stems from the ongoing discord between Latif Khosa, along with fellowlawyer Aitzaz Ahsan, and the party’s leadership due to their alignment withformer Prime Minister Imran Khan amidst his legal challenges.

In anticipation of the pivotal CEC meeting scheduled for September 14 inLahore, both veteran lawyers, Latif Khosa and Aitzaz Ahsan, were extendedinvitations.

The show cause notice accuses Latif Khosa of assisting the leader ofanother party in legal matters without prior notification to the PPP.Moreover, it cites his criticism of the state during lawyers’ conventions,signaling a breach of party loyalty.

The notice imposes a strict timeline, urging Latif Khosa to respond within7 days. Failure to provide a satisfactory reply may result in punitiveaction in accordance with party regulations, potentially leading to thetermination of his basic party membership. The show cause notice was issuedby Nayyar Bukhari, the PPP’s secretary general.

This isn’t the first time Latif Khosa has faced such scrutiny, as sourcesreveal that he had previously received a show cause notice for expressingsupport for the PTI chairman. As the party’s internal tensions unfold, thePPP’s decision to issue this notice highlights its commitment tomaintaining party discipline and cohesion in the face of dissent within itsranks.
