Former federal information minister Muhammad Ali Durrani has asserted thatboth President Dr. Arif Alvi and former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sharea common ‘positive stance,’ characterized by their reluctance to engage ina confrontational relationship with the military establishment.
In an exclusive conversation with ARY News, Durrani recounted his encounterwith PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif during his time in jail when he advisedagainst instigating a feud with the military establishment. Shehbaz Sharif,he revealed, explained that he was obligated to follow the directives ofhis party leadership, emphasizing that both the former premier andPresident Alvi held similar positive perspectives.
Furthermore, Durrani disclosed that he had conveyed his concerns to PML-N’sleader, Nawaz Sharif, cautioning that PTI’s chief would remain in power ifthey targeted the wrong adversary, comparing it to hitting the ball on theumpire’s head instead of the intended target. He emphasized that theremoval of a politician from power is ultimately determined by the peopleof the country, underlining the significance of public opinion in suchmatters.
Responding to inquiries, the former minister highlighted the positiveimpact of his interactions with President Dr. Arif Alvi and Chief of ArmyStaff (COAS) General Asim Munir on the political landscape.
He claimed to have a deep understanding of PTI’s chief, stating that hecould anticipate his future actions, and he stressed that participation ina level-playing field would be contingent on the likelihood of achievingfavorable outcomes.
Prior to meeting with President Dr. Arif Alvi, Durrani reported havingdiscussions with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders who remainedcommitted to the party’s cause. According to him, these leaders expressed adesire for reconciliation, in contrast to those who had departed from theparty, who appeared to favor conflict.
Meanwhile, Ali Durrani announced his intention to unveilconfidence-building measures (CBMs) on Friday, aimed at representing andaddressing the concerns of those within PTI who are currently experiencinga crisis.
