LAHORE – In a major breakthrough in motorway gang rape incident, duringinterrogation by Police on Monday, the suspect Shafqat confessed to therape, sources say.
Punjab police sources said that Shafqat, the accomplice of prime SuspectAbid Ali, has confessed to raping a woman on the motorway in his initialstatement recorded to the police. He also confessed to committing 11 othersuch crimes with Abid Ali as well.
Shafqat told police that they stayed at Qila Sattar Shah the night afterthe Lahore motorway incident. The next day, they split up with him going toDepalpur and Abid going to his father’s house in Manga Mandi. He revealedthat he had last contacted Abid three days ago.

This confession comes after Shafqat’s DNA had matched with the samplescollected from the crime scene, security personnel confirmed on Monday.
