China responds over rising tensions between Iran and US

BEIJING – China says no one want war and instability in the Gulf of Omanand urged the need for dialogue to resolve differences.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang in a statement called allsides to exercise restraint following attacks on oil tankers in the region.

Geng Shuang said Beijing has deeply concerned about the rising tensionbetween U.S and Iran.

He said that China hoped all sides will resolve their differences throughdialogue.

Meanwhile, European Union has called for maximum restraint amid mountingtensions over U.S. accusations against Iran over attacks on two oil tankersin the Gulf of Oman.

A spokesperson of the EU’s Foreign Service talking to media said that weare gathering more information and assessing the situation.

She said that the region doesn’t need further escalation anddestabilization and called for maximum restraint to avoid provocations.
