ISLAMABAD – The National Assembly passed the 26th Constitutional AmendmentBill and formalized an increase in the number of seats for the erstwhileFederally Administered Tribal Areas in the National Assembly and KhyberPakhtunkhwa Assembly.
It is positive development. This act will compensate the sense ofdeprivation of the tribal people.
The tribal people will have enough representation in national politics.Now FATA people will also have the opportunity in national streamline. Thisbill is a big source of happiness for tribal people.
The increase in the number of seats for FATA in the National Assembly andKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly will be helpful in eliminating the sense ofdeprivation of the people of these areas.
In the tenure of previous government seats for FATA in national assemblywere reduced to 6 from 12 and seats of provincial assembly were reduced to16. We presented a bill for merger on 27th of December, 2018 but theprocess was delayed because the standing committees were not constituted atthat time.
Today is a historic day for our people and tribal people will now realizethat they are part of this country and the government cares for them.
