NEW YORK – The United Nations Security Council failed to adopted aRussian-drafted resolution on Saturday that would have condemned “theaggression against the Syrian Arab Republic by the U.S. and its allies inviolation of international law and the U.N. Charter.”

Only Russia, China and Bolivia voted in favor of the draft resolution.

Eight countries voted against the draft, while four abstained. A resolutionneeds nine votes in favor and no vetoes by Russia, China, France, Britainor the United States to pass.
