Iranian Ambassador seek enhanced cooperation with Pakistan over counter terrorism front

Islamabad, March 13, IRNA — Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan has stressedthe need to strengthen cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad to overcomethe menace of terrorism, especially the continued threat of Daesh terroristgroup in the region.

Ambassador Mohammad Ali Hosseini said this during a meeting with PrimeMinister of Pakistan Imran Khan here on Friday.

Pakistan’s Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health on Health Dr ZafarMirza and Foreign Secretary Sohail Mehmood were also present during themeeting.

The ambassador highlighted the latest measures Iran as taken to fightcoronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and its cooperation with the internationalorganizations to overcome the crisis.

Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasizing the importance of Iran-Pakistanbilateral relations added the government of Pakistan is committed tofurther deepening relations and cooperation with Iran in all areas.

He stressed the need for removing obstacles in bilateral economiccooperation, especially in the field of trade. The PM appreciated theprincipled and constructive position of the Islamic Republic of Iran onKashmir issue.

He welcomed the cultural cooperation between the two friendly nations ofIran and Pakistan and called for boosting intellectual and spiritualcooperation of Iran and Pakistan against the invasion of Western culture.

Imran Khan also called for expanding relations between Iran and Pakistan intourism sector.

Ambassador Mohammad Ali Hosseini on the occasion said Iranian leadershiphighly values its ties with Pakistan saying that constructive steps need tobe taken to increase the volume of bilateral trade by using variousmechanisms.

He also said that Iran is ready to increase cultural cooperation withPakistan.

Hosseini added that Tehran and Islamabad need to keep the joint border openfor transportation and trade activities while adhering to health and safetystandards.

During the meeting, Pakistani Health Minister briefed PM Imran and theambassador on country’s efforts to manage the coronavirus outbreak andexisting cooperation between Iran and Pakistan on the issue.
