BEIJING – Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Masood Khalid Thursday said lastyear, 55,000 Chinese businessmen and workers were issued visas by thePakistan Embassy in Beijing and its four consulates.He said the new visa regime an important initiative, which would attractmore tourists and businessmen from across the globe and help overcomechallenges to the economy.”The primary objective of the visa-free policy is to facilitate the peoplewho intend to visit Pakistan,” he said after the inauguration of the newvisa system by Prime Minister Imran Khan for five countries, includingChina, Turkey, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates.The inauguration ceremony was shown live via video-conference.Terming it a very good step in the right direction, he observed that as theprime minister said the new visa regime would promote our business,tourism, and economy.Ambassador Khalid said during the last six months, the government had takena number of steps to encourage investment and tourism in the country. “Itis a vision and the government is working on it.”He endorsed the prime minister’s remarks that Pakistan had a greatpotential for the tourism as it had beautiful landscape, historical andreligious places.He expressed the confidence that the number of Chinese tourists wouldfurther grow in months to come.He pointed out that the increasing number of tourists from China wasmanifestation of the fact that the relations between Pakistan and Chinawere growing at a fast pace and the Chinese people had an ample interest toexplore Pakistani markets and its tourist destinations.The ambassador also commended the services of visa section of the embassyfor facilitating the Chinese businessmen and workers particularly after thelaunch of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.He also directed the embassy staff to further improve their behaviour andleave a good impression during public dealings.
