ISLAMABAD – The federal government is charging hefty surcharge onpetroleum products in Pakistan.
According to the report, the ex-refinery price of petroleum products is Rs50.27 while the government is charging Rs 84.51 from the customers, therebytaking Rs. 34.24 as surcharge.
Similarly, the government is charging Rs. 95.83 on diesel which includes Rs40 tax per litre and the taxes on diesel are even more than the petrol.
Earlier this month, the government increased petroleum prices by Rs 2.98per liter. The revised price of petrol now stands at Rs 84.51 per literwhile that of high-speed diesel stands at 95.83 per liter with an upwardrevision of Rs 5.92 per liter.
Price of kerosene oil was raised by Rs 5.94 to Rs 70.26 per liter andlight-speed diesel up by Rs 5.93 per liter to Rs 64.30 per litre.
