Why Supreme Court rejected NAB appeal against Sharif family?

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court has upheld Islamabad High Court’s verdictwherein it had ordered suspension of imprisonment sentences awarded toformer Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz byAccountability Court Islamabad in the Avenfield reference.

The order was passed by a five-member bench of the court, headed by ChiefJustice Mian Saqib Nisar while hearing the case in Islamabad on Monday.

The court dismissed NAB’s appeals against IHC’s verdict and ruled that NABhas failed to provide the ground for cancellation of bails and that IHC hadnot exceeded its authority in granting bail to the convicts of theAvenfield reference.

Meanwhile, commenting on Supreme Court’s verdict, Information MinisterChaudhary Fawad Hussain said that it is legally correct.

In a tweet, he said ex-ordinary reasons are required for cancellation ofbail. He, however, said the verdict has caused no change in the situationpractically.

The Minister advised the PML-N to bring forward a new leadership being animportant political party as Nawaz Sharif’s politics has finished forever.
