Islamabad: Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Vice Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has said that if I have betrayed the country, then I should be hanged. Former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while talking to the media in the judicial complex, said that I cannot even think of betraying the country; in jail, there is a gallows waiting for me with my noose, if I have betrayed the country, I should be hanged.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that I am spending solitary confinement in Adiala Jail; unlike other prisoners, I am not allowed to step out of the jail. My family is going through the most torture at this time; my sick wife and children are suffering the most.
He further stated that I am innocent in the May 9th events; I was not present there. My wife was sick, and I was taking care of her in Karachi.
In response to a question, he said that no one can replace PTI Chairman; there are speculations and misunderstandings about the PTI Chairman's change in leadership.
Shah Mahmood added that I am facing some discomfort, and the atmosphere is tense; I do not get home-cooked food, I get food like other ordinary prisoners. I had a meeting with my family today; my children and wife came to Adiala Jail. Seeing my family in jail brought both happiness and sorrow.
