An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore has initiated a proclamation process against several PTI leaders who could not be apprehended in two cases related to the May 9 incident due to their evasion.
These leaders, including prominent politicians Farrukh Habib, Azam Swati, Hammad Azhar, and Murad Saeed, have been implicated in cases stemming from the May 9 events, which involved protests triggered by the arrest of PTI chief Imran Khan. These protests resulted in the vandalism of public and private properties, including military installations, leading to ongoing crackdowns on PTI.
The ATC Judge Abher Gul Khan has issued separate orders, stating that non-bailable arrest warrants were obtained for the suspects on July 6 and assigned to Sub-Inspectors Shahzad Akram and Tanveer Ahmad.
Despite efforts to apprehend them, the suspects remained concealed to avoid arrest. In response, the court has recorded statements from the process server, and proclamations under Section 87 of the Code of Criminal Procedure have been requested by the investigating officers, scheduled for September 13.
