Pakistan has called on UN Security Council to ensure that mandates of U.N. peacekeeping missions are effective and well-resourced.
Speaking in a debate on peacekeeping operations at the UN Security Council, Pakistan's permanent representative to the world body Maleeha Lodhi said it is necessary to facilitate the task of peacekeeping missions to maintain peace and security in troubled regions of the world.
Welcoming focus on performance, she said Security Council must base its decisions on practical analysis of resource requirements by the UN Secretariat.
Maleeha Lodhi stressed that the UN mandates must be precise and unambiguous to rationalize and prioritize the mandated tasks.
