KABUL - International rights group Human Rights Watch has urged to impose sanctions on Afghanistan’s newly appointed acting defense minister Asadullah Khalid over alleged war crimes and human rights abuses.
In a report, Asia Director at HRW Brad Adams said credible evidence of serious human rights abuses and war crimes linked to Khalid have followed him throughout his government career.
Brad Adams also called on donors including United States and Canada to impose sanctions on Khalid, freeze his assets and ban him from entry.
