Chairman PTI Imran Khan faces another setback

The Accountability Court in Islamabad has issued arrest warrants forPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman in the Toshakhana and the NationalCrime Agency’s £190 million cases. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB)filed a petition for the implementation of the arrest warrants against thePTI Chairman.

The Accountability Court, presided over by Judge Muhammad Bashir,instructed the Jail Superintendent to take necessary legal actions for theexecution of these warrants.

Deputy Prosecutor General NAB Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi, Prosecutor IrfanBhola, and investigative officers Mohsin, Waqar-ul-Hassan, Mian UmarNadeem, among others, appeared in court.

During the proceedings, when inquired by the court about the High Court’sstance, the prosecutor stated that the matter is pending, with nosuspension order or standing order issued by the High Court. The NABprosecutor requested the issuance of warrants and directed the JailSuperintendent to take appropriate measures.

Furthermore, the court questioned whether the issuance of warrants wouldeliminate the need to summon the accused. In response, the prosecutorclarified that once arrested following the warrant, the accused would bebrought to the court for physical remand. Sheikh Rasheed’s candid interviewand pointed remarks at Nawaz Sharif were also noted during the hearing.
