ISLAMABAD – Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua has said that China PakistanEconomic Corridor is an important project for Pak-China bilateral relationsand the economic development of the region.
Addressing a seminar in Islamabad on Tuesday, she said that both thecountries agreed on the welfare of people and timely completion of the CPECproject.
She said that the economic zones under the CPEC will be constructed in theentire country.
Tehmina Janjua said Pakistan is heading towards improvement of bilateralrelations with its neighboring countries and the regional powers.
She said mutual contacts will have to be enhanced for the progress of theentire region.
Pakistan has historical relations with the Central Asian Republics andtrade relations with these countries could be further enhanced through railand road links.
She said that Gwadar Port will play an important role in Pakistan’srelations with the Central Asian States and other countries.
Ambassador of China to Pakistan Yao Jing, in his speech, said policiesbeing pursued by the Prime Minister Pakistan Imran Khan will have positiveimpacts on the future of Pak-China relations.
He said CPEC is crucial for enhancing Pak-China bilateral relations and themega project is moving ahead with a new dimension after the new governmentcame into power in Pakistan.
Hailing Pakistan’s efforts for peace in Afghanistan, Yao Jing said theinternational powers will have to do joint efforts for the peace in the wartorn country.
