KABUL – Afghanistan Ghazni’s Malistan district is on the verge of collapseand that heavy fighting is ongoing in Jaghori, another district inthe province.

Members of the provincial council said if more troops are not deployed tothese areas, a humanitarian crisis will unfold. The provincial council alsosaid security forces have suffered a high casualty toll in the ongoingconflict.

Malistan and Jaghori districts were until recently among the most securedistricts in the country, but in the past few days, clashes have beenongoing between security forces and the Taliban.
