Pakistan’s Caretaker Foreign Minister, Jalil Abbas Jilani, took the helm asthe chair of the 10th Commonwealth Youth Ministerial Meeting (CYMM) held inLondon. In this pivotal role, Interim Foreign Minister Jilani underscoredthe paramount importance of fostering partnerships and cooperation amongCommonwealth nations to advance the cause of education. With a focus oneducation, he emphasized its potential to empower youth and pave the wayfor their promising futures.
During his tenure as chair, Foreign Minister Jilani presided over asignificant meeting centered on the theme of “Delivering more throughInclusive and Accessible Education.” In this context, he highlighted thepivotal role of education not only in empowering youth but also in securinga brighter future for them. This gathering was a testament to thecollective commitment of Commonwealth nations to address criticaleducational issues.
The 10th Commonwealth Youth Ministerial Meeting, which was formallyinaugurated by Foreign Minister Jilani at the Commonwealth Headquarters inLondon, revolved around the theme of “Aim Higher: Delivering More for YoungPeople in the Commonwealth.”
This theme closely aligns with the United Nations Sustainable DevelopmentGoals, underlining the global significance of the discussions and decisionsmade at the meeting.
Furthermore, the meeting’s agenda prominently featured four core areas:education, employment, engagement, and the environment. These areas areintegral components of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) and willbe extensively deliberated upon during the gathering. In the heart ofLondon, Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani also anticipated fruitfulinteractions with participating Ministers and high-ranking officials of theCommonwealth, further strengthening diplomatic ties and cooperation amongmember nations
