Pakistan’s official response over CPEC report, US India joint communique

ISLAMABAD – Foreign Office Spokesman, Dr Mohammad Faisal has rejected areport regarding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) that Pakistanis reviewing the project agreement and termed it false and incorrect.

Earlier a foreign newspaper had published a report, claiming that Pakistanis reviewing the trade agreements with China under CPEC, a key part ofBeijing’s ambitious Belt and Road project.

Later, Advisor to Prime Minister on Commerce, Textiles, Industriesproduction and Investment, Abdul Razzaq Dawood rejected the claims made bythe British newspaper regarding the CPEC.

Dr Faisal while talking to media during the weekly briefing in Islamabad,He completely rejected the reports of Pakistan’s plans to review CPECagreements, the government also rejects any impressions of the same.

The Foreign Office also rejected allegations leveled against Pakistan in ajoint communiqué by the United States and India.

Dr Faisal said that Pakistan is ready to hold talks with India on allissues.

Furthermore, the foreign office spokesperson said views on different issueswere exchanged during US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visit to Pakistan.

Regarding the Afghanistan, Dr Faisal said that Pakistan believes a solutionto the Afghan issue can only be found by the people of Afghanistan.

He further noted that Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s first foreignvisit is to Afghanistan on Saturday, where he will exchange views onAfghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS).
