Terrorists Blow Up Gas Pipeline in Lakki Marwat, Disrupting Supply to Punjab
Terrorists on Wednesday destroyed a gas pipeline in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district, cutting off supply to Punjab, police confirmed.
According to district police spokesperson Aamir Khan, explosives were planted on the main transmission line in the Bhana Manjiwala area and detonated, creating a large crater at the site. The blast halted gas supply from Lakki Marwat to the Mianwali region of Punjab.
A heavy police contingent, along with a bomb disposal squad, reached the scene soon after the incident and launched a search operation to track down the perpetrators.
Police officials noted that the same location has been targeted three times before in similar attacks on the main gas pipeline. In July, militants blew up a pipeline near Wanda Amir, halting supply to Punjab, and later the same month destroyed another section in the Torwah area — the fourth such incident in a month.
Two similar attacks were also recorded in June, including the bombing of a key pipeline from the Bettani Gas Field and another blast near the Jabbarkhel area just 10 days later.
Lakki Marwat has been a long-standing hotspot for militancy and violence, with unrest dating back to the early 2000s. Although security operations once brought a period of calm, militant activity has surged again in recent years, straining local peace efforts and raising concerns of renewed instability.
