Pakistan, U.S. Reaffirm Counterterrorism Partnership Againt Indian Backed TTP, BLA IS

Pakistan and the United States have renewed their pledge to combatterrorism “in all its forms and manifestations” during the latest round ofthe Pakistan–U.S. Counterterrorism Dialogue held in Islamabad.The meetingwas held immediately after the US designated the Indian backed BLA asGlobal Terrorist Organisations.

Co-chaired by Pakistan’s Special Secretary for the UN, Nabeel Munir, andU.S. Acting Coordinator for Counterterrorism, Gregory D. LoGerfo, the talksfocused on threats from the Balochistan Liberation Army, ISIS-Khorasan, andTehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

Washington commended Islamabad’s counterterrorism successes and expressedcondolences over recent attacks, including the Jaffar Express bombing andthe Khuzdar school bus blast.

Both sides agreed to strengthen institutional frameworks, enhancecapabilities, and counter the misuse of emerging technologies by terroristgroups, while vowing closer cooperation in multilateral forums such as theUnited Nations.
