Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming series against South Africa is expectedto be announced by the new Chief Selector, Mohammad Wasim, on Friday inKarachi. It is expected that there will be some changes made to the squadafter a disastrous tour of New Zealand.
Hasan Ali is one player that might be recalled to the squad after asuccessful campaign in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Hasan’s heroics in thefinal were lauded by the cricketing fraternity, as he managed a tie fromthe jaws of defeat for Central Punjab. He scored the first century of hisFirst-Class career leading to a remarkable tie in the National StadiumKarachi.
Hasan came back from a lengthy injury lay-off, and according to him, he hasregained full fitness ahead of the historic series against South Africa.
“When you’re out, you have to show your fitness and performances. What wasin my control, my fitness, I showed by bowling 260 overs [in the season],43 wickets, runs too, played nine back-to-back four-day games, that too inKarachi with tough conditions for bowlers,” Hasan said.——————————
Hasan was the fourth-highest wicket-taker of the tournament, and he had themost number of wickets for a fast bowler in the tournament. He picked up 43wickets at an average of 20.06. His contribution with the bat was crucialfor Central Punjab as well. He scored a total of 273 runs at an average of24.81, including one century and two half-centuries.
Hasan recently made headlines as the number one draft pick in the PakistanSuper League (PSL) 2021 draft. He was picked by the two-time PSL champions,Islamabad United, after a five-year stint with Peshawar Zalmi.
