ISLAMABAD – The National Assembly was informed today that the revenue ofthe Ministry of Power has increased to 229 billion rupees in one year dueto the corrective measures taken by present government.
Minister for Power Umer Ayub told the House during Questions Hour that 112billion rupees were generated through recoveries and taking action againstthe power pilferage. He said seven thousand people involved in thepilferage were arrested.
Umer Ayub said we have reduced the flow of circular debt to ten to twelvebillion rupees per month from thirty- nine billion rupees left behind bythe PML (N) government.
The Minister for Power said eighty percent of the total feeders have beencleared of load shedding.
He said a significant progress has been made in exploiting the wind, solarand biomass potential available in the country.
He said a policy has also been formulated by the present government toincrease the share of renewable energy up to the level of twenty percent by2025 and thirty percent by 2030.
Umer Ayub told the house that a Saudi company has expressed interest toinvest four billion dollars in renewable energy sector of Pakistan.
Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Andleeb Abbass said legal aidis provided to the Pakistani prisoners languishing in foreign jails.
The House also offered Fateha for those killed in recent terrorist attackin Quetta and due to rains in Balochistan besides the death of former ChiefElection Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ebrahim.
The House passed Federal Government Employees Housing Authority Bill, 2020.It was moved by Minister for Housing and Works Chaudhary Tariq BashirCheema.
