ISLAMABAD – Widespread rain has caused Pakistan International Airlines(PIA) to change its flight schedule for Dubai. The airline’s spokesperson,Abdullah Khan, said that return flights from Islamabad and Peshawar havebeen canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions.
Dubai-bound flights PK-213 and PK-214 from Karachi, PK-283, and PK-284 fromPeshawar, PK-235, and 236 were canceled and the passengers were shifted toother flights from Lahore and Islamabad. PIA will use larger aircraft,Boeing 777, for these rescheduled flights instead of Airbus A-320.——————————
On Sunday, passengers of flight PK-212 were stranded in Dubai. PIA saysthey have now been accommodated in different hotels.
On the directives of CEO Arshad Malik, the airline administration has beenvigilant, providing all facilities to the passengers staying in Dubai.
Recently, the Gulf state has been under the spell of heavy rains as thepour-down reached 150 mm/hour for 2.5 hours on Sunday.
Coming back to Pakistan, the national flag carrier has canceled alldomestic flights for Quetta amid heavy snowfall.
The decision was taken after a PIA aircraft was trapped at Quetta airportdue to bad weather. The airline administration said that the provision of ade-icing facility is the responsibility of the Civil Aviation Authority(CAA) to avoid such delays.
