In Damascus, Syria, simultaneous missile strikes were carried out by Israeli forces on the city's capital airport and the airport in the northern city of Aleppo.
These attacks resulted in damage to the runways, rendering both airports inoperable. A Syrian military source, reported by the state news agency SANA, mentioned that these "bursts of missiles" striking both airports simultaneously were seen as an attempt to divert global attention from Israel's conflict with Hamas militants in Gaza.
The Israeli military declined to comment on these reports. For years, Israel has been conducting strikes on what it claims are Iran-related targets in Syria, which includes actions against Aleppo and Damascus airports.
These airport strikes are believed to disrupt Iranian supply routes to Syria, where Tehran's influence has grown significantly due to its support for President Bashar al-Assad during the civil war that began in 2011.
These attacks occurred just a day before Iran's foreign minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, was scheduled to visit Syria.
Israel has pledged to dismantle the Hamas movement governing the Gaza Strip as retaliation for the deadliest attack on its civilians, which took place when numerous armed individuals crossed the barrier and entered Israeli towns on Saturday.
Tehran has praised the actions of Hamas but has denied any involvement.
On another note, Israeli forces fired artillery and mortar shells into Syria on Tuesday after rockets from southern Syria struck Israeli positions along the border.
