In Afghanistan's Kunar province, a senior commander of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), identified as Commander TTP Lakki Marwat Atiqur Rehman, widely known as Tipu Gul, met his demise in a shootout.
This event marked a significant development, as Rehman had been sought by Pakistan's security forces due to his involvement in the killing of numerous security and police personnel in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
TTP insiders disclosed that Rehman had masterminded a series of attacks specifically aimed at security personnel. In February, a police operation in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa had strongly suggested Rehman's presence among the 12 TTP militants eliminated during the operation. However, the banned organization had vehemently denied these reports.
Today, TTP sources have come forward to confirm the killing of their commander during the shootout. This confirmation underscores the significance of the event within the context of the TTP's operations and its implications for regional security.
It's important to note that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is a terrorist organization that has been engaged in a prolonged conflict against the state of Pakistan since 2007. The group originally emerged from a collection of splintered elements of al-Qaeda and various militant factions, with the overarching goal of establishing Sharia law, not only in Afghanistan but also in neighboring Pakistan.
