SIALKOT: Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul on Monday stressed the need for making mutual efforts to boost bilateral trade ties between Pakistan and Turkey.
Addressing a meeting at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), he said that Pakistan and Turkey were enjoying cordial relations which would be further strengthened.
He invited the Sialkot exporters to diversify their product line mentioning that most innovative goods were produced in Sialkot.
Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul assured to make sincere efforts from Turkey to increase the mutual trade volume between Turkey and Pakistan.
Turkish Ambassador invited the Sialkot exporters to divert their business activities to Turkey, saying that Sialkot exporters were the much aware of the international quality standards and they also have the great potential to explore and capture the international markets of Turkey by exporting their diversified traditional and non-traditional export products.
A documentary ‘Sialkot, the city of Progressive People’ was screened during the meeting.
Acting President SCCI Waqas Akram Awan lauded the efforts to enhance bilateral trade and investment, and said that the same could be conveniently enhanced by facilitating frequent interactions of private sectors through single country exhibitions, exchange of trade delegations and one-to-one meetings of businessmen from both sides.
Waqas Akram Awan said that Turkey had a robust economy with sustained growth rate. Economic growth has enabled Turkey to follow a fast pace development model, he said and added that Pakistan could learn a lot from the economic and development models implemented by Turkey.
He said the total trade volume between the two countries as per Ministry of Commerce Pakistan, in FY 2017-18 was just over USD 640 million, saying that there was a lot of potential to increase the volume of trade as both sides have a huge unexplored trade potential.
Chairman SIAL Nadeem Anwar Qureshi also presided the meeting.
