RAWALPINDI: A plea to acquit television actress Atiqa Odho in liquor recovery case was dismissed by the civil court. She was named in the case when former Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry took notice during 2011.

The case was heard by civil judge Waqar Mansoor who dismissed Atiqa Odho’s plea in the alcohol case and summoned her on April 15. The actress has been directed by the court to appear and submit her statement.

Previously, Atiqa Odho was caught with bottles of wine at Benazir International Airport of Islamabad during 2011 while she was flying to Karachi. Former Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry had taken notice of the matter.

Reportedly, two bottles of wine were recovered by custom officials from the bags belonging to the actress. The ex-CJ had ordered then Punjab IG, ASF Director General and FBR Chairman to take action against the matter.

The capital police had consequently registered a case against Atiqa Odho over the recovery of liquor.
