Pakistan International Airlines ATR 72 aircraft obtained on expensive leasehave been removed from the fleet.
The first aircraft of APB Y left Karachi for South Africa in the morning.
According to the details, the ATR-72 aircraft, which was obtained on anexpensive lease of PIA, has been removed from the fleet. Sources said thatthe aircraft were unfavorable and unprofitable in terms of operation andcost.
As per the sources, the aircraft were becoming more expensive than thecurrent ones leased in 2015. The long lease agreement was an obstacle inthe way of the return of these aircraft.
The first flight of APB left Karachi for South Africa this morning. PIA CEOArshad Malik said that the decision was difficult but inevitable in thecurrent situation.
He said that PIA is on the path of modernization of the fleet. Soon newaircraft will be added to the fleet to improve the product. Arshad Maliksaid that modern aircraft was the wish of our guests which will befulfilled soon.
