ISLAMABAD – Student Unions deadly clash in Islamabad University leavesover 10 among injured and dead.
At least nine students were injured in a clash between two student groupsin International Islamic University, Islamabad on Thursday night.
The brawl erupted between Islami Jamiat Tulba and the Saraiki StudentFederation during a function at the university premises. Both the groupsexchanged firing during the clash. In the fight, one dead and 11 wereinjured due to the firing.
Heavy contingents of police, after being informed, rushed to the universityand controlled the situation. Police officials said that they weresearching the hostels to recover weapons and arrest the miscreants.
The injured students were taken to the nearby hospital for treatment.
The deceased student was identified as Tufailur Rehman and Miraj Khattak,Muhammad Usama, Jammal Cheema, Muaz Saeed, Faisal and Irfan were among thewounded students.
Earlier, the police arrested over 70 students while 37 others weresuspended from Punjab University after the clashlinkthe varsity premises. The arrested students have been shifted to an unknownlocation.
