Pakistan FM, ISI Chief held important meetings in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh

RIYADH -Pakistan FM, ISI Chief held important meetings in Saudi Arabia’scapital Riyadh. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi held talks with hisSaudi counterpart in Riyadh in what appears to be a visit linked toPakistan’s efforts, seeking de-escalation in rising tensions in the PersianGulf region.

The significance of the visit can be judged from the fact that the chief ofPakistan’s premier intelligence agency – Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)– General Fiaz Hameed was also accompanying the foreign minister on adaylong trip to Riyadh.

A statement issued by the Foreign Office said Qureshi met Saudi ForeignMinister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah.

During the meeting bilateral ties, current situation in Indian OccupiedJammu and Kashmir and other regional and international issues werediscussed, the statement added.

Briefing his Saudi counterpart, Qureshi said India had kept the disputedterritory under locked down for four months with over eight millionKashmiris having almost no access to the outside world.

The foreign minister added that the people of Kashmir were looking up tothe international community particularly the Muslim world to persuade Indiato stop grave human rights violations in the disputed territory.
