The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed that the Pakistancricket team is set to receive a total of $260,000, despite their prematuredeparture from the 2023 Cricket World Cup. The tournament, hosted in India,saw Pakistan engage in nine matches, clinching victories in four andenduring defeats in five. Consequently, the national team secured the fifthposition, accumulating eight points in the process.
For the World Cup, ICC designated a prize purse of $10 million, whereineach team earned $40,000 for every match won during the group stage.Notably, even teams eliminated in the group stage are entitled to aparticipation fee.
In accordance with the ICC’s calculation method, Pakistan’s early exitqualifies them for a total prize sum of $260,000, which translates toapproximately PKR 74 million.
It is crucial to highlight that the semifinalists will each receive$800,000, the finalists are set to be awarded $2.5 million, and theultimate winner of the tournament will take home a substantial $5 million.
