Caretaker Minister for IT Umar Saif has taken a significant step inenhancing cybersecurity in Pakistan. He recently revealed the creation ofthe nation’s inaugural National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT).
The primary objective of this initiative is to fortify Pakistan’scybersecurity landscape in the face of continually evolving threats andcyberattacks directed at public sector organizations.
Minister Saif officially unveiled this development through his social mediaplatforms on Thursday. He emphasized the importance of this milestone,stating,
“Today, we have embarked on the journey of establishing a National CERT(Computer Emergency Response Team) for Pakistan. Our national CERT, alongwith subsequent sector-specific CERTs, will serve as the institutionalframework and capability to safeguard Pakistan’s cyber space.”
