PM Imran Khan breaks silence over issue of delayed notification on appointment of DG ISI

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that he is hopeful for anamicable solution to the issue related to the appointment of the newspymaster.

Reports in local media quoting sources said the premier discussed thematter with cabinet members and took them into confidence. The developmentcame after Khan discussed the matter with the Chief of Army Staff at lengthlast night.

Khan told the cabinet members to avoid giving any out-of-context statementsin this regard. Government and armed forces are on the same page and thematter will be resolved soon in a cordial manner, he told the ministers.

The matter of the delayed notification for the appointment of the new DGISI was discussed in the media for the last couple of days.

Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry also commented on thematter today saying Prime Minister Imran Khan and Army Chief General QamarJaved Bajwa had a long meeting last night about the legal procedure for theappointment of the new Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence(ISI).

Speaking with media after the meeting of the federal cabinet, the PTIminister said all the constitutional and legal requirements will becompleted in the matter.

Earlier, Interior Minister, during a presser, uncharacteristically refusedto comment on the matter saying Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry wasauthorized to speak on civil-military issues however he negated any tusslebetween the two sides.
