Head Coach Misbah ul Huq under fire over dual role in PCB

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Cricket team Head Coach Misbah ul Huq under fire overdual role in Pakistan Cricket Board after his failure in the first T20International series against Srilanka.

Pakistan former captain Aamir Sohail has came harsh on the Pakistan CricketBoard (PCB) saying that appointment of Misbah-ul-Haq as head coach andchief selector was the board’s major mistake.

“It’s really the people who appointed him [Misbah] who should be taken totask for this mistake. If a person who has never had any experience ofbeing a coach is appointed as head coach of Pakistan and also given thetask of being chief selector, then who should be blamed for that’ Think ofit from a player’s point of view,” stated Sohail, at *PakPassion.net*.

The statement comes after Pakistan suffered a humiliating 3-0 whitewash inT20I series against the inexperienced Sri Lankan side.

The former opening batsman cum cricket pundit pointed out that the playerswould be ‘very hesitant’ to approach Misbah-ul-Haq who happens to be bothhead coach and chief selector of Pakistan cricket, which will beunfavourable for Pakistan.

“The fact is that players will not find it easy or possible to interactwith a person who is their Head Coach and also Chief Selector and so PCBhave made a blunder and they must now suffer the consequences,” said Sohail.

Sohail is not the first to point the perils of dual roles, similarstatements were given by former Australian batsman Dean Jones who has alsoserved as Islamabad United head coach. “In my opinion in cricket, youcannot have both roles as a head coach and a selector. Imagine if you werea player with some technical or mental problems.. would you be honest withyour coach as you are more likely to be sacked!” Jones said in a Twitterpost.
