In Islamabad on Monday, Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar said that NawazSharif has been thrice Prime Minister of Pakistan and if he lands back inPakistan then he will be dealt as per the law of the land. Nawaz Sharifwill have to face the Courts and get himself clear from the Courts as perthe law. There would be no discrimination with him.
He further underscored a critical point: the sole authority to declare theelection date lies with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Speakingwith a private news channel, PM Kakar emphasized that the forthcomingelections’ timing would be determined by the ECP.
He explained that Parliament had enacted legislation granting thisauthority to the election commission, dispelling any speculationsurrounding the election schedule. In his words, “We have no intention toprolong the caretaker government’s tenure.”
As someone well-versed in Pakistan’s history, PM Kakar expressed hisgratitude to Quaid-e-Azam for safeguarding the rights of the Muslimminority and shielding them from the potential dominance of the majority.
Reflecting on the plight of minorities in larger states, he envisioned thechallenges Muslim’s religious and cultural identities might have faced ifnot for Quaid-e-Azam’s efforts to establish an independent Muslim state.The prime minister admired Quaid-e-Azam for his commitment toconstitutionalism, inclusivity, and minority rights.
PM Kakar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to combat smuggling andrestore the state’s authority. He emphasized the importance of continuity,aiming to ensure that the incoming government could seamlessly carry on thework for the public’s benefit.
He highlighted the significance of the Special Investment FacilitationCouncil (SIFC) apex committee, comprising current military leadership, as astrong constitutional body actively making and executing decisions.Moreover, he commended the coordination between the caretaker federal andprovincial governments in implementing policies.
The SIFC, under his guidance, concentrated on economic rejuvenation,particularly in agriculture and mineral extraction sectors. PM Kakarstressed the need for significant investment plans to be well-advanced bythe time the next government takes office. He also noted Pakistan’smultifaceted relationship with Afghanistan, marked by ongoing discussionson trade, security, and regional connectivity.
He underscored the understanding that neighboring countries couldn’t bechanged, promoting diplomatic dialogue as the way forward. Regarding theconcerning rise in terrorism incidents, he acknowledged the terrorists’enhanced capabilities but asserted that Pakistan’s territory would remainunharmed, with the security forces prepared to respond firmly to anythreats, maintaining the nation’s stability and security
