Sunil Gavaskar hammers Pakistan team s batting

Pakistan suffered a humiliating loss to India in the 2023 Asia Cup Super 4match in Colombo on Monday, with India winning by an enormous 228-runmargin. Sunil Gavaskar, in an interview with India Today, didn’t hold backin criticizing Pakistan’s batting performance.

He remarked that the way Pakistan batted made it seem like India couldhave defended their total of 266 in the previous match. Gavaskar questionedthe depth of Pakistan’s batting lineup, apart from Babar, and noted thatnone of their other players posed a significant threat to the opposition’sbowling.

“In cricket, there are no ifs and buts. But the way Pakistan batted today,it seemed India would have been able to defend 266 the other day if thegame (1st match) had carried on. You know people, particularly in Pakistan, keep on talking about India having only one or two players. I mean how manyplayers does Pakistan have? Particularly in the batting department. Apartfrom Babar who do they have?” Sunil Gavaskar questioned.

In response to India’s formidable 356-run total, Pakistan could onlymanage 128 runs in 32 overs, marking India’s most significant victoryagainst Pakistan in One Day International (ODI) cricket. This defeat standsas Pakistan’s second-worst ODI loss in history, with the previous recordbeing a 234-run loss to Sri Lanka in 2009.

It’s important to mention that due to persistent rain and a damagedoutfield, the critical match between Pakistan and India in the Super Fourstage of the Asia Cup was rescheduled from Sunday to Monday.
