Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistan captain, has raised questions aboutPakistan’s commitment following their devastating loss to India during theSuper Four stage of the 2023 Asia Cup.
After Pakistan’s defeat to India, Afridi turned to the social mediaplatform ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) to share his concerns aboutPakistan’s determination in the match. He also offered words ofencouragement to the players, urging them to improve their performances infuture matches. Additionally, he praised India for their exceptionalperformance in all aspects of the game against Pakistan.
In his tweet on ‘X,’ Afridi stated, “Winning or losing is part ofcompetition, but not displaying a fighting spirit, and lacking the intentto win is disappointing. This is exactly what I emphasized in my previoustweet. India displayed top-notch performance in fielding, batting, andbowling. Congratulations to @imVkohli on reaching another milestone of ODIruns, and well done to you and KL Rahul for your well-crafted ????. Pakistan suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of India, losing by asubstantial margin of 228 runs in Colombo on Monday.
In response to India’s formidable total of 356 runs, the national teammanaged to score only 128 runs in 32 overs, marking it as India’s mostsignificant victory over Pakistan in One Day International (ODI) cricket.
This loss stands as Pakistan’s second-worst defeat in ODI history, with theprevious record being a 234-run loss to Sri Lanka in 2009.
It’s important to note that due to persistent rain and a damaged outfield,the crucial match between Pakistan and India in the Super Four stage of theAsia Cup was rescheduled from Sunday to Monday
