Imran Khan, the leader of PTI, convened yet another meeting with his legalteam within the confines of Attock Jail. During this gathering, headamantly refuted any allegations of a ‘deal’ being struck. The PTI legalteam, composed of Naeem Haider Panjotha, Umair Niazi, and Shoaib Shaheen,engaged in discussions with the ousted prime minister.
After their meeting, Naeem Haider Panjotha addressed reporters, reiteratingKhan’s denial of any deals and emphasizing that the sole solution to thecountry’s dire ‘economic disaster’ is to hold ‘immediate and transparentelections.’ Furthermore, he revealed that a contempt petition had beenlodged against the Superintendent Jail, with consequences looming if thecourt’s inquiry is not adequately addressed.
In response to a query, Panjotha disclosed that they had been informed ofan upcoming proceeding regarding the cipher case, scheduled to take placein Attock Jail on September 14. Previously, PTI’s legal representatives hadconveyed Khan’s willingness to engage in discussions, but with a singularfocus on elections.
Shoaib Shaheen, another member of the legal team, expressed Khan’s concernsabout the people of Pakistan amidst the ‘deteriorating economic situation.’Meanwhile, Naeem Haider Panjotha assured that Imran Khan’s well-being wassatisfactory in jail and underscored the necessity for political stabilitywithin the nation. Panjotha relayed Khan’s willingness to engage indialogue with any political party or institution regarding election matters.
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently in judicial custody untilSeptember 13 in the cipher case, has been incarcerated in Attock prisonsince his arrest on August 05.
