Nawaz, Maryam parole time to be extended for days: sources

ISLAMABAD – Former PM Nawaz Shariflink who was in Adiala Jail,has been released on parole for 12 hours.

Punjab home department has issued the notification.

He will be immediately leaving for Lahore. However sources have revealedthat Sharif family parole time would be extended by three more days.

Earlier Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhryhas said that federal government would release the Sharif family members onparole for 12 hours from jail for Kulsoom Nawaz funeral.

He said on Tuesday the government would extend all possible assistance tothe Sharif family in accordance to the law, following the demise of BegumKulsoom Nawaz in London.

The minister, while expressing grief over the sad demise, acknowledged thatthe wife of former prime minister Nawaz Shariflink was a ‘brave anddignified’ woman.

As per law, deposed premier Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and hisson-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar could be released on parole for 12 hoursto attend the funeral of Begum Kulsoom, he said. “The government would acton Sharif’s request for release according to the law,” he added. “They(Sharifs) would be given all possible assistance as allowed in the law.”

Speaking about the PTI link linkagenda, the minister told the state-run PTV that Prime Minister Imran Khanwould take big decisions in coming days.

He said the prime minister enjoys equal support both in and outside thecountry. Pakistan at present is facing multiple and big challenges andPrime Minister Imran would certainly not disappoint the people, the PTI linklink leader claimed.
