ISLAMABAD – New revelations have been made in the inquiry report submittedby former Punjab IGP Kaleem Imam to the Supreme Court.
He submitted the inquiry report in the Supreme Court over Pakpattan DPO’stransfer matter on Wednesday.
In the inquiry report, Ahsan Iqbal Jamil, a close friend of the Manekafamily, complained against the police officials who mistreated the KhawarManeka’s daughter.
The report stated that Pakpattan DPO Gondal was summoned through PSO byPunjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar without taking the IGP in the loop at10pm. Ahsan Iqbal Jamil was become part of the meeting on Punjab ChiefMinister Buzdar’s invitation.
According to the report, Maneka’s children have in doubt that their matterwas not resolving due to her uncle’s political association with theopposite political party. Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondal cleared his positionconfidently before the RPO and the Punjab chief minister.
The DPO refused with Ahsan to apologies on behalf of police officials forgoing any ones ‘*Deera’.*
As per report, Imam maintained that there was no political intervention inthe case. Meanwhile, the report said that police officers were neitherharassed nor pressured. Pakpattan DPO had felt that he was being pressuredand he did not like that, the report added.
It further stated that the chief minister had summoned the police officersas ‘elders’ in order to close the matter in accordance with the tribaltraditions.
In the report, the request has been made that the chief minister should notbe summoned any police officer next time. It also appealed that the policeofficer should be summoned through proper channel of Punjab IG regardingany matter.
Earlier this month, Pakpattan DPO’s transfer sparked a controversy asspeculation suggested that the police officer was transferred because ofthe August 23 altercation between the police and Khawar Maneka.
