LAHORE: A group of more than 60 senior police officers from all over the province on Monday gathered at the Central Police Office (CPO) to show solidarity with their two colleagues who have challenged the sentence handed down to them in the Benazair Bhutto murder case by a anti-terrorism court.
Seven deputy inspector generals (DIGs), including Ali Amir Malik, Chaudhry Sultan, Zulfiqar Hameed, BA Nasir, and Tarqi Qureshi, were also among the officers who gathered at their provincial boss’ office, besides senior superintendents of police (SSPs) and district police officers (DPOs).
However, IG retired Capt Arif Nawaz did not attend the meeting though he was present in his office at the CPO.
From Lahore, only two senior officers – SSP (admin) Rana Ayaz Saleem and Ibadat Nisar attended the first-ever meeting held by the Pakistan Police Service (PSP) officers on such an issue as Lahore Police was busy in the security measures of the World XI.
