China Urges Pakistan to Deepen Strategic Cooperation

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong has urged both countries to deepen cooperation, advance their shared vision, and take concrete measures to safeguard regional peace and stability.

Addressing a symposium marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, Jiang emphasised the need to fully implement the consensus reached between the leadership of China and Pakistan. He said these steps would accelerate the creation of a “closer China–Pakistan community in the new era” through practical and coordinated actions.

Highlighting the historic and enduring partnership between the two nations, Jiang noted that as all-weather strategic cooperative partners and key members of both the Global South and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), China and Pakistan have consistently supported each other on regional and global platforms while defending the UN-centred international order.

Reflecting on the wartime legacy, the ambassador recalled China’s early and determined resistance to fascist aggression, which lasted 14 years and came at the cost of 35 million lives. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s contribution during that period, particularly Karachi’s vital role as a port supporting Allied forces, including China.

Jiang reaffirmed China’s commitment to multilateralism, peaceful development, and win–win cooperation, noting the country’s significant role in UN peacekeeping missions, with more than 50,000 troops serving in 20 countries and regions over the past 35 years.

Under President Xi Jinping’s vision, he said, China continues to advance the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilisation Initiative, promoting a multipolar, inclusive, and equitable global order. Through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), China has signed cooperation agreements with over 150 nations and extended assistance to more than 160 countries.

He added that China’s upcoming commemoration of the 80th anniversary of victory against fascism serves as a reminder of the shared responsibility between China and Pakistan to uphold peace and strengthen cooperation for a more stable and prosperous future.
