In a tweet, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR)Major General Asif Ghafoor said: “Pakistan wishes to see national unitygovernment and US/NATO succeeding to bring peace in Afghanistan.”
The visit comes as the Afghan president announced the first unconditionalceasefire with the Taliban, coinciding with the end of the Muslim fastingmonth.
Reports said the United States and Pakistan jointly worked to arrange atemporary ceasefire in Afghanistan aimed at bringing peace to the war-torncountry.
Amid frayed ties between Islamabad and Washington, there was a round oftelephonic exchanges between top officials of the two countries lately.
The two sides agreed to further strengthen the bilateral relations and alsotalked about pursuing shared goal of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
