LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar says the government is workingto turn Pakistan into the country envisioned by father of the nationQuaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Addressing the ground breaking ceremony of a college in Rawalpindi onFriday, he said the new local government system, soon to be introduced inPunjab, will devolve the powers at the grass root level and empower commonpeople. He said 22,000 Panchat Committees will be set up across theprovince to help people resolve their conflicts and issues at the locallevel.
The Chief Minister said Rawalpindi will be brought at par with Islamabad interms of facilities and there will be no difference between the two cities.
He said the incumbent government will give funds in one year to Rawalpindithat would be equivalent to those given by the previous governments in adecade.
Sardar Usman Buzdar said Lai Expressway is being constructed at a cost of60 billion rupees. He said the Ring Road project costing 50 billion rupeeswill mature soon. This project will decrease pressure on existing roadnetwork of the city and will facilitate the commuters.
Punjab Chief Minister said Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology will beupgraded to provide better health facilities to the people. Besides,Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Kidney Transplant will be madefunctional soon. He said Parks and Horticulture Authority Rawalpindi willbe provided additional funds to make the city beautiful.
